One Year Vibe

So I'm finally settling in again in Vermont. Got an apartment, got a chair, got a lot of comic boxes to make other things out of like a coffee table and tv stand. Not really going for the whole "grown up" space this time around. This isn't a permanent stop. It's a decent apartment, not great, just decent. Definitely getting a transitory vibe though from this place. Just a year I think. Then... somewhere else... again. Most likely still in Vermont. Before I bought the condo I sold this year I moved every year for 3 or 4 years, maybe I'll do that again. After all my travels this year it's nice to have a place of my own again. ...ask me again after it snows.

The Traveling Geek

I've been on the road since mid February and by the time I get home I'll have been away for nearly 6 months. That's a pretty long time. Or maybe not long enough, I don't really know yet.

I sold my condo at the end of January with the idea that I wanted to move, specifically to Austin Texas, a place I'd visited many times and have really good friends. Only once I got there I realized I didn't really want to move, I wanted to travel. Something I was doing less and less over the last few years for whatever reasons.

On this trip I've been from Vermont to Florida to California and all the states you need to cross to reach those places. I visited Roswell, New Mexico because... c'mon, I couldn't be that close and NOT visit Roswell, that'd just be silly.

Last week I exhibited at the San Diego Comic-con for the 7th time and it was the biggest show I've had by a wide margin. That's just icing on the road trip cake.

I've seen landscapes I'd only ever seen on tv, eaten in new restaurants (surprisingly good pizza outside of NY, who knew?), met new people.

I'm in California at the moment and soon I'll start heading East a different way than I came. More new things to see.

When I'm driving it's like the road is a movie I control in front of me. That's just how I see things and in a couple weeks the closing credits will roll on this trip.

I'm not sure I want them to. I think I'll take a month long road trip every year around the San Diego Comic-con now. I hear there's a place in Montana that let's you dig for fossils you get to keep!
